      Description

      Single precision may be sufficient in many places in the simulator, with the exception of integration and, generally, reductions, where double precision is required.

      NumPy defaults to double, but with review and refactor of certain segments of code (e.g. checking where new arrays without dtype constraint), it should be feasible to assess the effect on accuracy, stability, performance and memory use.
